Communicating with Your Customers Online

As we get more familiar with the social media tools, it is apparent that content may be the most important aspect of a successful social media campaign.

Social media isn’t as much about selling as it is about relationships. We have invited some of the best local examples of how to interact with your customers online.

Life is good Thanksgiving Event

We need your help decorating our store for the Holidays!

Join us at Life is good on November 20th to celebrate Thanksgiving by creating a "Thank you Chain." You will be able to write down or draw what you are thankful for, or a good deed that you have done, on a strip of paper.  We will assemble them into a festive chain that will hang in our store.  How long can we make it!

We will also be holding a food drive to benefit the Good Shepard Food Bank.  Non-perishable food items will be collected on that day and will be brought to the Portland warehouse.

Kid friendly with coloring, popcorn, stickers, and balloons.

Don't forget, we accept donations to our Life is good Kids Foundation at the store.  Lets see how much we can raise this holiday season.  Hope to see you there.

Third Annual Eco Options Christmas Light trade In

WHAT: The third annual Eco Options Christmas Light Trade In event allows consumers to bring in their old, non-working Christmas light strings to be recycled and receive a $3 off coupon towards the purchase of energy efficient seasonal light-emitting diodes (LED) string lights.  Customers must purchase their new LED lights between November 4 and November 14 and are limited to five redemptions.

LED lights are shown to use 80 percent less electricity than standard mini lights and last up to 10 times longer.  This holiday season, The Home Depot will carry traditional white and multi-colored ENERGY STAR® qualified LED lights that offer superior connectivity-allowing consumers to link up to 87 strands (or one-quarter mile) of lights without fear of overloading a circuit.  There are even more great choices in LED holiday lights with the introduction of Martha Stewart Living and EcoSmart LED light strands, both available exclusively at The Home Depot.

New Cape Farm Opening Doors This Weekend

Fall and frosts have arrived, signaling the end of the season for most local farms.  For a new farm in Cape Elizabeth, however, the arrival of chilly weather means the season is just beginning.  And this year's harvest is the first for the Old Farm Christmas Place on Sawyer Road

Jay Cox began planting balsam fir on his property in 2004 after spending a few years preparing the land for the cultivation of Christmas trees.  Every year since, the Coxes have planted an average of 2,500 tiny transplants, and have meticulously cared for the trees over the past seven years.  Now there are about 1,000 trees from the fist planting that range from six to nine feet in height and are ready for sale on a choose-and-tag or choose-and-cut basis.   The farm will be in full production in 2012 as the new plantings mature; there will be around 2,500 trees available each year after this point.

Hardy-Bickmore-Gee Rule the Roost at Scarborough Downs
By Michael Sweeney for Scarborough Downs

Scarborough, Maine (Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010) - James Hardy, leading driver at Plainridge Racecourse, came to Scarborough Downs on Saturday and walked away with five wins from the day's 11-race program. All Hardy's wins came while driving horses for trainer Randy Bickmore, who trumped Hardy’s five-win performance by sending six winners to the post.  From those six winners, five belonged to prominent Maine owner, Kevin Gee of Falmouth.

"It was just a great day today, just a great day," said Gee. "A great day for Randy and a great day for Jimmy. I called Jimmy this week and asked him to come down, he said 'sure,' and we’re all glad he did."

The Bickmore bundle included Formula One A (Steve Nason), along with Showtime Sam, Rusty's Rascal, JC Lou Benjamin, I'm A Lucky Man, and Hot Don Ho Bluegrass, all of which were driven by Hardy.
