Dead River Company to Match Every Dollar Collected from Individuals and Businesses, up to $100,000

WHAT:   Dead River Company and United Way of Greater Portland will announce the roll out of Share the Warmth, a philanthropic giving platform of Dead River Company, aimed at raising funds for fuel assistance across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The fundraising initiative is targeted at individuals and businesses and Dead River Company will match every dollar collected, up to $100,000. All donations will be collected and distributed by United Way of Greater Portland to agencies that provide fuel assistance in the three states. Donation can be made through www.deadriver.com/sharethewarmth.

METRO Service UPDATE:  Presidents’ Day – 2011

Greater Portland Transit District, METRO, will operate a Saturday service schedule for all routes on Presidents’ Day —Monday, February 21, 2011. The METRO office, located at 114 Valley Street will be closed.

METRO does not operate on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Buses run on a Saturday service schedule on Presidents’ Day, Patriot’s Day and Columbus Day.

METRO, with bus ridership averaging 1.4 million annually, is Maine’s largest public transportation carrier, providing bus service to Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth and the Maine Mall area of South Portland.

Town & Country Becomes Major Partner of  Maine Cancer Foundation for 2011

South Portland, ME – Town & Country Federal Credit Union has become a 2011 Gold partner and sponsor for the Maine Cancer Foundation (MCF).  In this role, Town & Country will support the MCF’s four signature events including Mary’s Walk, the Pink Tulip Project, Tri for a Cure and the Cure Breast Cancer for ME luncheon. 

In addition to providing financial support, Town & Country will actively participate in the various events.   In 2010, the credit union raised over $7,800 and had more than 20 employees participate in Mary’s Walk.  Town & Country also raised more than $2,700 for the Pink Tulip Project through the sale of pink tulip bulbs at its local branches.  The credit union will participate in these events again in 2011.
