Maine Sire Stakes Championship Finals Contested at Scarborough Downs

Maine Sire Stakes Championships for the 3-year-old divisions were decided on Sunday (10/14) at Scarborough Downs. An enthusiastic crowd came forth to witness the combat as the Maine-breds battled for purses in excess of $77,000 per split.

Pembroke Picture claimed the filly crown on the trot posting her 11th win of the season and 20th career victory lap.

Community forum will address local healthcare concerns: community members invited to learn the facts

 

Healthcare in our community is at a crossroads. Mid Coast Hospital has a proposal that will help our community preserve local control of its healthcare services, while maintaining high quality and driving down costs. The hospital will host a public forum for community members to learn about current concerns surrounding these proposals.

The forum will be held on Monday, October 15 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Mid Coast Hospital Café and Conference Rooms, located at 123 Medical Center Drive in Brunswick.

Open house

The Scarborough Fire Department is holding a Fire Prevention Week Open House on Sunday, October 14th from1-4 PM at the Black Point Fire Station, 341 Black Point Road.  Public education materials, demonstrations, station & apparatus tours, and refreshments will be available.  Members of the standing truck committee will also be available to provide information and answer any questions the public has regarding the upcoming referendum question regarding the replacement of Ladder 2.
