Free Seasonal Flu Vaccinations Available

CHANS Home Health Care and Mid Coast Health Services are offering an additional free seasonal flu vaccination clinic in response to community inquiry and the Maine Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) report that there is widespread influenza activity in Maine.

The clinic will be held Friday, January 18, from 9 am-12 pm and then again from 4-6 pm, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Drive in Brunswick.

The Maine CDC reports that influenza activity is expected to remain high in Maine for the next several weeks and strongly encourages vaccination for everyone 6 months and older. The available vaccine appears to be a good match for the strains of influenza that are circulating at this time. It is not too late to get the vaccination in order to help prevent or lessen the symptoms and duration of influenza infection.

Large-scale community-based seasonal flu vaccination clinics have been identified by our local board of health as an important component to increasing the overall vaccination rate in our community, therefore supporting the health of our population. CHANS Home Health Care has sponsored over 50 flu clinics this season, in an effort to support public health initiatives and overall community health and wellness.

CHANS seasonal flu vaccinations will be offered at no cost, however donations are suggested, but not necessary; no one will be turned away if unable to donate. Supporting free access to health care needs has been part of the organization’s service mission since 1947 and they continue to support their legacy of health care access within the community setting.
