5% Day at Whole Foods Market Today to Benefit Pine Tree Camp

Today at Whole Foods Market in Portland, 5% of the day's net sales will be donated to Pine Tree Camp. For those of you who aren't familar with Pine Tree Camp, it is located on 285 acres of woods, fields and more than a mile of waterfront on North Pond in Maine's Belgrade Lakes region, Pine Tree Camp provides an innovative barrier-free environment offering fully accessible recreation to Maine children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Established in 1945 as a summer therapy outlet for children with disabilities, they are proud to be Maine’s only American Camping Association-Accredited camp for people with disabilities.

So please remember to get your groceries today or at least those last minute items for your cookout!

Gorham is celebrating the 275th anniversary of it's founding through-out the Memorial Day weekend

Gorham is proud to be celebrating the 275th anniversary of it's founding.  The entire weekend will be full of fun, rides, and history tours to take us back to our roots.  The events will take place at the Narragansett school on Main St. Memorial Day weekend, May 27- 30. 

The amusement rides open at 4:00 pm Friday evening along witth music by Fiddle Jam and the Don Roy Trio.  The founders festival officially kicks off at 9:00 am Saturday with an opening ceremony were a descendent of Gorham's first settler, John Phinney will be recognized as the festival's honoree.  Capt.

Mustaches in May to raise money for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program

 Mustaches in May to raise money for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program

An all star lineup of Sea Dogs players are growing Mustaches in May to raise money for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.  Dr. Lou Jacobs, a Portland Chiropractor, gained national recognition as the founder of Mystache Fights Cancer, a cancer fighting fund raising event for local organizations. He is also the director of the New England Bureau of the American Mustache Institute.  Dr. Jacobs says "The mustache revival in the state of Maine has never been stronger and there’s never been a better time to use your ‘stache for a good cause."   The doctor will be throwing the first pitch at the Sea Dogs game and showing his support for the players at 1pm on Sunday May 29, 2011 against rivals the Trenton Thunder (Yankees).

Sea Dog players are taking pledges and a $15.00 donation gets you a free ticket and a family donation of $50.00 gets you five tickets and a picture with your favorite player.

4th Annual Maine Walk for Epilepsy

4th Annual Maine Walk for Epilepsy

Join us on May 15 in Saco at 36 Tasker St., Young Elementary School for a 2 mile walk to help support the Epilepsy Foundation.  Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM.  All proceeds raised from the walk will go into supporting the more  than 144,000 people living with epilepsy and seizure disorders in the four state area. Our mission is to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences and to work toward prevention, control and a cure for epilepsy through advocacy, education, research and support services.

Enjoy food and entertainment after the walk.  Pets on leashes are welcomed.

Keller Williams Realty Annual Red Day "GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE" Campaign

Keller Williams Realty Annual Red Day "GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE" Campaign is focusing on supplying much needed food to our local food bank for all Cumberland and York County pantries to draw from. With some pantries closing, children losing their free lunch programs and the rise of gas and food prices, Keller Williams Agents will be having a food drive to fill a 14 foot Good Shepherd's food truck on Thursday, May 12, 2011 between the hours of 10am and 2pm in the parking lot at 50 Sewall Street, Portland. Please bring your non-perishable donations to Keller Williams Realty on or before May 12th to help fill this truck for your community or call the number below and we will send a Keller Williams Agent to pick up your donation!
