Let's Do Our Part for a Better Planet!
Celebrate Earth Day by joining us and your neighbors for the annual clean up of
Scarborough's natural treasures - our beaches and the Scarborough Marsh! 
 
 SATURDAY APRIL 21  9 AM - NOON

There are sites all around town - bring a friend or two (or more!) and join us! Groups also are welcome.  There will be refreshments, provided by Starbucks & other area businesses, at the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center.

Jam with other musicians and learn the ins and outs of the local music scene at the Maine Academy of Modern Music’s Adult ROCK CAMP on April 13th, 14th and 15th.   This music filled weekend of licks and picks is like Christmas in April for adult musicians - does it get any better than that?
 
Adult ROCK CAMP packs everything an aspiring rock star needs to know to get rockin’ in one weekend, including studio tours, master classes, live performances, song writing workshops, meet and greets with local professionals, instrument clinics and jam sessions. So, make some music!!

Some people believe palliative care is synonymous with hospice. Palliative care is much more than that; this kind of care can be an incredible resource for both patients and loved ones. This type of care provides patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness--whatever the diagnosis. After finishing active treatment or when one near's the end of cancer treatment, we often struggle with fears and anxiety about what the future holds--especially fear of recurrence. Join cancer survivor and licensed counselor, Dawn Stratton, as we discuss new ways to cope with the fear and stress that can accompany a cancer history. Some seats available; no registration required.

 

 

“ROBOTICS SPAGHETTI DAY!”

 
South Portland High School’s FIRST Robotics Team, The Riot Crew, is hosting spaghetti supper Wednesday April 11, 2012 from 5:00-7:00PM in the Holy Cross School Cafeteria in South Portland. Tickets are $5.00/person or $15.00/family of 4 or more. Buy your tickets at the door. There will also be a silent auction and robots on display.
 
This fundraising event is one of many the team has coming up in the next week to raise the funds needed to get to the FIRST Robotics Championships in St Louis, MO April 26-28.

Car Wash at Napa Auto Parts at the Mill Creek shopping center in South Portland Saturday April 7, 2012 from 9:00AM – 1:00PM. Donations to support the team are most appreciated.
 
The team will be at the Maine Mall concourse with a display of robots that you may drive and information booths about FIRST Robotics on Saturday April 7th from 11AM-7PM. Please stop by and show your support.

The Maine Mall Takes Shoppers “From Store to Shore”

From April 14-22, 2012 The Maine Mall is celebrating Earth Month and kicking off summer shopping with a full menu of activities for shoppers including indoor sailing exhibits, aquarium touch tanks, aquatic robot demonstrations, and a fashion show.

The fields of boating, fishing and lobstering will be celebrated through nautical décor from local marine stores as well as community groups that engage in these fields. Sail Maine volunteers will demonstrate rigging and sail basics on boats in Garden Court while in Center Court, South Portland middle schoolers will show off their STEM projects: aquatic robots, redesigned fishing nets, and special lobster traps.
