To enter our Maine Scenic Photo contest, you can post up to 5 photos now through June 8, 2012. We’ll select our favorite twelve (no more than one per person) that may be chosen for SIS’s 2013 calendar or other print materials and then ask our online social network community to vote for #1. For each vote placed, we will make a $1 donation to a charity or organization of the winner’s choice, up to $300. Plus, the winner gets a $100 gift card! That’s not all!

74-Year-Old Volunteer Honored as Maine’s "Salute to Senior Service" Winner

A 74-year-old Waterville man has been honored as the Maine winner of the Home Instead Senior Care® network’s Salute to Senior Service Award. Gilman Pelletier is being recognized for his dedicated community service, including his work with Spectrum Generations Muskie Center, Maine Military and Community Network, Franco American Festival, City of Waterville, VFW, American Legion, We Support the Troops Advisory Board, Corpus Christi Parish and Knights of Columbus.

The Salute to Senior Service program was launched this year by the Home Instead Senior Care network to honor seniors’ commitments to their causes and communities.

Scarborough Community Chamber's 34th Annual Meeting

 The Scarborough Community Chamber will present its 34th Annual Meeting on June 7 from 12:00-2:00pm at the Black Point Inn (510 Black Point Rd, Scarborough, ME). Ron Cantor, President of Southern Maine Community College, will be the featured speaker.

The theme of President Cantor's recent inauguration was Progress with Integrity. He will discuss how this applies to the growing connections between Southern Maine Community College and the vibrant communities it serves.

The event will feature a buffet luncheon and light jazz. Board officers for the upcoming year will be elected. Portland Regional Chamber Members (the Scarborough Community Chamber is one of five Community Chambers) pay $15, non-members pay $20.

Portland Youth Dance Company Will be Presenting May Show 2012! on Saturday, May 19th, 4pm at Scarborough High School.  Presenting new choreography in hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and modern dance, with dancers throughout the greater Portland area.
