SCARBOROUGH - The annual Karting for Kids -- Big Brothers Big Sisters 500 will be on Wednesday, February 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Maine Indoor Karting in Scarborough.

Businesses, families or groups of friends can sponsor indoor “karting” teams of five drivers for $500.  Any team can enter multiple teams and challenge other teams, or Big Brothers Big Sisters will match teams against each other.

Each race is computer timed and the overall best time wins the trophy and 10 tickets to the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  Other event sponsors include Binga’s Stadium Smoke House & Sports Bar, MaineBiz, and CD&M Communications.

All car sponsors will receive the following: A trophy commemorating the event; names appearing in a MaineBiz ad; and recognition from the event’s media sponsor (Q-97.9 Hit Music). This event is great opportunity for: team building; sales contests; fun; supporting Maine kids!

Individuals who raise $400 or more (beyond the team entry fee) get 2 tickets to the Red Sox.  All drivers will also have the opportunity to seek support for their individual efforts.

All proceeds from the event will support mentoring programs provided for kids in Southern Maine by Big Brothers Big Sisters. Last year, with the help of a generous community, hundreds of kids in Cumberland and York Counties were served.
